How much is SFI worth per hectare?

Updated 2026-08-31

It depends entirely on which actions you do. Across all 71 SFI26 actions, annual payment rates range from £4 (for some boundary and waterbody actions, paid per 100 metres) up to £1,920 per hectare for the most demanding actions. Most land-based actions fall in the £30–£300 per hectare range.

Most actions are paid per hectare per year. A handful are paid per metre of hedgerow or boundary, one (AHW2) is paid per tonne of winter bird food, and there’s a £100,000 annual cap per agreement.

Because rates vary so much by action and land type, a genuinely useful estimate needs to know your farm’s actual land — which is exactly what a Withy plan does.
